چکیده
abstract: This paper analyses the behaviour of reinforced concrete beams subjected to progressive loads. Although this topic is addressed in recent works through tri-dimensional finite elements, present study adopts a simpler alternative, using Euler-Bernoulli’s beam element. The evolution generalized cracking by Damage Mechanics theory, and nonlinear constitutive models steel are considered, including plasticity post-peak ‘. laminated approach permits not only ascertain damage but, practical aspects, makes easy define vertically symmetrical transversal sections distribute reinforcement as desired, even if rebars have different lengths. It highlighted changing neutral axis during process, which updated automatically developed numeric-computational code. To validate proposed methodology, two examples detailed, both based on experimental tests found literature. results obtained close ones confirm applicability approach.

The application of external post-tensioned steel bars as an effective way to strengthen an existing bridge has been so far used in many different countries. In recent decades, however, they have been replaced by bars made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), as a material with high tensile strength and corrosion resistance, to address several concerns with steel bars such as their appli...

Abstract: The practical implementation of performance-based fire safety design of reinforced concrete (RC) structures hinges on the availability of accurate numerical simulation tools for the behavior of RC members exposed to fire. This paper presents a three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model for the accurate prediction of both the thermal and the mechanical behavior of RC beams expose...
